Wall Preparation

Some homeowners take the opportunity to relocate outlets under the cabinets or use plug-mold strips so the splash panel stays uninterrupted. That is an electrical decision to make early.

Cutouts near the edge of a panel are a fabrication risk. Outlet positions close to the end of a run or close to the cabinet line get reviewed before the panel is cut.

Material Planning

A full-height splash across a typical perimeter can add substantial square footage — often comparable to adding a small island. That is the main reason the detail affects budget, and why range-only panels are popular.

Standard Four-Inch Splash Instead

The four-inch splash remains the most common choice and does the essential job of protecting the wall at the counter line. It costs far less material and pairs with tile or paint above. It is the right answer for many kitchens, and there is nothing second-rate about it.
